Sir Bartholomew Burghersh, received 6000 pounds Sterling from the king for handing over his prisoner, the Count of Ventadour. He was a close friend of Prince Edward and took part in the discussions of the King for the Treaty of Guînes (1354). Bartholomew earned a great reputation as a soldier and took part in Prince Edwards campaign of 1356. Before the battle of Poitiers he led a scouting unit and especially distinguished himself during the battle of Poitiers in 1356. He left a will requesting burial at Walsingham, Norfolk.
